Co-OPT Antenatal Corticosteroids Infographic

A robust evaluation of the short- and long-term benefits and harms of antenatal corticosteroid exposure.

Antenatal corticosteroid infographic.

Along with members of the Consortium for the Study of Pregnancy Treatments (Co-OPT) collaboration Parental Advisory Board group, and a graphic designer (Tom Harris), Dr Emily Frier has created this infographic on use of antenatal corticosteroids before planned caesarean birth at term.

This infographic is supported by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, and is designed to be used by patients and clinicians. It accompanies the recently published Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Green-top Guideline 'Antenatal corticosteroids to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality'. It is designed for use by parents and healthcare professionals, to provide important information in an accessible format and to support shared decision-making, so parents can make informed choices about their pregnancy and birth.

The infographic is protected by copyright but is free to download, and we encourage you to share it with parents and health professionals, in any setting.

This work was created by members of the Co-OPT Parental Advisory Board (PAB), which is an international group of parents, personally and professionally committed to representing the interest of preterm and newborn babies.

Dr Emily Frier led the creation of this infographic with members from the Co-OPT PAB, and graphic designer, Tom Harris.

We are in the process of developing additional infographics which will support decision making surrounding use of antenatal corticosteroids in different scenarios. These will also support the RCOG Green-top guideline on antenatal corticosteroids.
