CHOICE

A study looking at over 40,000 maternity records to assess home cervical ripening during induction of labour.

CHOICE was a prospective observational study with a nested qualitative study (qCHOICE) looking at home cervical ripening. The study hoped to answer our research question “Is it safe, effective, cost-effective and acceptable to women to carry out home cervical ripening during induction of labour?” through the collection of routine data.

Data collection was over 40,000 records with over 500 data points and was an opt-out model with screening and consent being managed by an electronic maternity system.
